De Filippi Floors:
since 1929 custodians of an enduring legacy

he origins of our company date back to 1929, when brothers Antonio and Gaetano De Filippi—after gaining experience as mosaic artists at renowned companies in the field—decided to start producing their first cement tiles, founding their own company with an initial team of fifteen employees.

From Economic Boom to Industrial Innovation:

The growth of De Filippi Floors

Benefiting from a booming economy, shrewd management, and superior product quality, the company quickly expanded into a larger, more modern factory in Lecce, where Antonio De Filippi’s children—Concetta, Ugo, and Osvaldo—also began working; after a few years, they each pursued different paths.

In 1958, Ugo De Filippi founded Ima Pavimenti, with which, a few years later, he revived the technique of producing decorative bricks in standard sizes, developing an industrialized production method that significantly increased production.

New formats and techniques

Osvaldo De Filippi revolutionizes the flooring industry

Osvaldo De Filippi left his father’s factory and opened a new workshop, from which, on June 13, 1965, he began tile production. In the same year, he opened the new headquarters where, to this day, the company still operates.

Osvaldo specialized in the production of outdoor tiles, creating new formats such as hexagonal, rectangular, and the innovative “Butterfly” format. He also introduced the production of patterned washed tiles, polished outdoor tiles, rough and sandblasted tiles in reduced thickness—products that were then unknown in many parts of Italy. Thanks to these innovations, Osvaldo’s company established itself as a leader in the outdoor flooring market.

In the late 1980s, spurred on by his sons Enrico and Fabio, Osvaldo resumed the production of decorative tiles in terrazzo and cement paste, which in 2003 was enriched with the molds and assets he received as a gift from the now-defunct Ima Pavimenti.

A commitment between generations

Passion and quality that endures

Since 2006, the company has been led by sons Enrico and Fabio, who, with the same spirit and love as their predecessors, guide it with the motto:

“Produce each brick as if it were for your own home.”

In 2007, Fabbrica di Mattoni Osvaldo De Filippi underwent an important acquisition of the production know-how and equipment from the renowned Lecce-based company Astoricchio & Figlio; while in 2014, it acquired the technologies and machinery of Venix, a leading producer of Venetian terrazzo floors.

Today, the company integrates the production lines of five factories, continuing to distinguish itself through quality and innovation in the indoor and outdoor floor and wall covering industry.
